Center of Russian language and Culture of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU CRLC) has launched an online training program for students from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, People’s Republic of China (PRC). As part of the special course, participants will be able to learn the Russian language and get acquainted with Russian culture.

The program for students from the University of Electronics and Technology of China is fully held in an online format and is designed for 12 academic weeks. At present, there are 24 students enrolled in the course, all of whom have commenced their Russian language learning and have a basic level of language skills. The program is aimed at developing communication competencies and will help future foreign applicants pass the entrance examinations for admission to Russian universities, as well as easier adapt to the Russian-speaking environment. Upon completion of the training, participants receive a certificate from FEFU CRLC.

"We note the great interest in the Russian language and culture from Chinese citizens, and in order to satisfy this interest, we are constantly looking for new formats. In response to the growing interest from potential applicants, we are planning to engage more partners from various provinces in the PRC to participate in our program. If earlier FEFU traditionally had communications mainly with the Northeast - the provinces of Heilongjiang, Liaoning, and Jilin, now there are many interactions with the southern provinces of China, and this is a target audience for us," noted Anna Komogortseva, director of the FEFU Center of Russian language and Culture.

"Cooperation between Russia and China in the field of higher education has traditionally been a significant aspect in relations between our countries and is endowed with "strategic" importance. The Far Eastern Federal University has been fostering beneficial partnerships with Chinese partners for years, thus actively contributing to the growth of educational dialogue. As a result of these contacts, schoolchildren and students from various provinces in China regularly participate in FEFU's educational programmes and then return to us as students. Such projects allow us to jointly train talented, highly professional personnel who will be able to meet the needs of the real sector of the economies of Russia and China, and who will continue to work successfully in international teams," said Evgeny Vlasov, FEFU Vice President for International Relations.

It is worth recalling that 15 FEFU Centers of Russian language and Culture are already operating in the PRC, and by December 2025 their number will increase to 20. The establishment of new Centers is a key component of the FEFU "Eastern Vector" policy, the task of which is to create at FEFU a key center of competence in Oriental Studies in Russia and enhance its role as a flagship institution in the Asia–Pacific region. The series of steps will enable educational programs across all fields of study at FEFU to incorporate the study of culture, history, and professional specifics of the Asia-Pacific countries, as well as provide research teams with a wide network of contacts of partners in Southeast Asia.
