Strategy
Six research priorities, determining the relevant programs of education, were set by FEFU to ensure long-term growth of the Russian Far East economy and its high-tech integration into the Asia-Pacific region.
Priority Research Areas
World Ocean Resources: research, development, use and monitoring of mineral and biological resources of the World Ocean and the development of new materials and technologies. Development of this priority area should be implemented in accordance with "The World Ocean" federal target program, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of August 10, 1998 №919. The new Oceanarium, built on the Russky Island, will be of great importance for this priority area.
Energy and Energy Conservation Technologies: development and application of high technologies in production, transportation and processing of oil, gas and other mineral resources, energy and resource efficiency technologies, development of alternative sources of energy, new materials and technologies.
Nanosystems and Nanomaterials: development of nanophysics, nanochemistry, nanobiotechnology and nanomedicine, as well as development of modern construction materials.
Transport and Logistics System: development of modern transport technology and innovative transport and logistics systems required for integration of the Far East into the economy of Russia and international transport and logistics systems.
Economic, Technological and Cultural Cooperation Between Russia and Asia-Pacific Countries: integration into the scientific, economic, technological and cultural areas of the region. Within this priority, along with the development of basic research and educational programs, the development of training programs for highly qualified economists, managers, lawyers, and teachers is planned, as well as the establishment of a center that will develop skills for teaching the Russian language, Asian languages and intercultural communication.
Bio-medicine: modernization of the medical sphere in the Far East and the exchange of modern medical technologies between Russia and Asia-Pacific countries. Implementation of most priorities of the University will be carried out in partnership with the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The goal of projects in priority areas is promoting the establishment of cross-sector innovative, macro-regional clusters of cooperation between industries, businesses, innovative infrastructure, research and education institutions.
