Alternative Sources of Energy for Climate Control in Residential Buildings
Scientists from the Far Eastern Federal University Department of Engineering Systems of Buildings and Structures design systems that create a comfortable climate in the living spaces. Designed systems of air cooling and air heating are based on the application of alternative energy sources. In their innovative designs scientists use heat pumps, solar energy collectors and special energy storage facilities, which can adjust for the specific season of the year.
According to the developed design, a solar energy collector is installed on the rooftop of the building and transmits the energy to the heat pump at the attic. By special air ducts air from the house is supplied into the heat insulated basement where it cools in summer and where it heats in winter with the heat energy absorbed during the warm season.
Energy storage facility is a space with containers filled with water and special heat exchange devices, which among other things include original design tubes with a ribbed surface.
