Investigation of the composition of coated electrodes’ coating
Abstract: Manual arc welding is characterized by high quality of welded joints. The use of this welding method is particularly relevant for repair and restoration work related to the correction of welding defects that occur during the manufacture and operation of metal structures. The purpose of the present work is to identify the main components of the electrode coating, assess their quality and justify their use. This paper considers the classification of welding electrodes, the composition of the coating, each element of which performs its own function – the formation of the surface of the deposited metal, slag, ignition of the arc, etc. The composition of the electrode coating is studied using the methods of laboratory X-ray phase (with phase distribution) and X-ray fluorescence analyzes. When preparing electrode samples for analysis, an automatic cutting machine, a hot-pressing machine, and a grinding and polishing machine were used. X-ray phase analysis of the coating of welding electrodes OMNIA 46 and KISWEL E309L was carried out.
