The registration
of intellectual property: the experience of the Aircraft Company Progress
Abstract: Public Joint Stock Company Arseniev Aircraft Company Progress which specializes in helicopter construction is preparing to produce two new flying machines: Ka-52K and Ka-62. The production requires a substantial upgrading of existing plants as well as retrofitting and expansion of the stock of equipment and tools. One of the tasks is to introduce innovative techniques, so, today, it is particularly relevant to the company to create and protect intellectual property. Earlier, the intellectual property assets created by the personnel of the company were outsourced which caused many problems in the organisation and control of the activity. On May 1, 2015, in order to deal with the matter on its own, the AAK Progress established a department to tackle the questions of the rights for the results of intellectual activities. Today, it has developed the general algorithm of the progression of the intellectual property rights at the company, from their origins to commercialisation, the ways of determining the initial value of the items and their depreciation adequate for the needs of the company. This situation is characteristic of the enterprises of the industry, so the investigations like these and making up recommendations on their basis are highly actual. The author offers an option for the procedure of protecting intellectual property rights, in which he is immediately engaged, and provides guidances on the calculation of the value of intellectual property.
