Operational repair and restoration of airfield coverage and airfield infrastructure facilities

Abstract: To carry out operational repair and restoration of airfield surface and airfield infrastructure facilities, it is necessary to use materials with improved physical and mechanical properties which allow to solve the problem of proper preparation of the airfield for aircraft accommodation the shortest terms possible. This article covers the development of a rational composition and the detailed study of properties of the universal concrete mixture for operational repair and restoration of airfield pavement and airfield infrastructure facilities. To ensure the required characteristics of concrete, a special repair composition for the universal concrete mixture is proposed. This composition is made with the new combined multi-purpose organic-mineral modifying additive. Using the method of the pre-planned active multifactorial experiment, the compositions of organic-mineral additives are optimized into a universal concrete mixture. It has been experimentally established that the use of the universal concrete mixture leads to improvement of the physical and mechanical properties of concrete and allows to carry out repair and restoration works all year round. Recommendations on the technology of using the universal concrete mixture in actual conditions of the deteriorated airfield of an airfield are given herein.
