The historic city’s cultural landscape dynamics

Abstract. The problem of creating a modern architectural object in a historic city is one of the most interesting topics in architectural theory and practice. Architecture is a cultural imprint of the era, and the state of cities and territories can be judged on the development of society. Over time, historic sites have created outstanding urban landscapes as a result of continuous spatial activity. However, in recent years there has been a serious search for new parameters that determine the future of the architectural approach to the historical environment. Relevance is determined by staying in touch with tradition, incorporating the best technological resources into the existing urban fabric and giving new buildings the highest quality architectural form, preserving the life and identity of the modern city. The paper discusses various approaches of modern architecture to the historical environment, provides examples of various methods of interaction between the old and the new in the cultural landscape of the city (modeling, integration, analogy, contrast).
