The use of bent reinforcing bars in reinforced concrete structures

Abstract. The article analyzes domestic sources of normative and scientific and technical literature on the use of bent reinforcing bars in reinforced concrete structures. The requirements of foreign design standards related to the definition of joint work of bent reinforcing bars and concrete structures, ensuring the strength of concrete for chipping and limiting the ultimate deformations of reinforcement are investigated. Recommendations for design have been compiled taking into account the requirements for ensuring the bearing capacity of structures and modern realities of the level of technical potential of contractors

Keywords: bent reinforcing bars, concrete chipping, bending radii of the bars, force transfer, ultimate deformation of the reinforcement
