Methodology of choosing a torsional vibration spring damper for marine diesel engine
Abstract. The article considers the calculation method of choosing a model of a spring damper of torsional vibrations for a marine diesel engine. As a practical application of the methodology, the article presents the results of a calculated evaluation of the choice of a torsional vibration damper of the Geislinger D60/14/2 model for Wartsila 6L20 diesels, which are the main engines of ships of the popular RST, RSD and others series. Additionally, the authors carried out a computational analysis of the change in the characteristics of the damper when its stiffness changes, which will allow to quantify the risks of torsional oscillations in marine diesel engines during degradation of the damper springs.
