Changes in the propulsion characteristics of transport vessels during operation
Abstract. The article provides an analysis of the results of full-scale measurements of the hydrodynamic characteristics of the vessel, from the main engine – MAN B&W LMC 50 diesel engines, carried out under real operating conditions in navigation areas with a high intensity of hull fouling (the seas of Southeast Asia). For comparison, the results of changes in the average load on the 5RD68 transport refrigerator engine under operating conditions in navigation areas with normal fouling intensity are presented. The uniqueness of the measurements carried out maintains their relevance, as it allows us to confirm the applied methods for assessing the propulsion qualities of the vessel in operation. A significant difference in the increase in the required power of the main engine under different sailing conditions is shown.
The results obtained can be used for approximate estimates of the influence of the ship's propulsion characteristics on the thermally stressed state of the ship's main power plants and when assigning full speed power.
