Центр изучения российско-японских отношений был создан в 2017 г. по инициативе ДВФУ и японской компании «Мицубиси Корпорейшн» в виде структурного подразделения Восточного Института – Школы региональных и международных исследований (приказ от 27.10.2017 г.№ 12-13-2103).

The Center for the Studies of Russia-Japan Relations was established in 2017 on the initiative of the FEFU and the Japanese company “Mitsubishi Corporation” in the form of a research unit within the Institute of Oriental Studies – School of Regional and International Studies of FEFU.
