Adsorption kkinetics of organic substances on expanded graphite
The article deals with the adsorption of benzene and toluene on expanded graphite. It has been demonstrated that the thermobaric splitting of natural graphite causes destructions mainly along the base planes. The increase in the number of the base planes causes a specific absorption of non-polar and weakly polar substances. The method of benzene adsorption from liquid phase has enabled us to determine the value of the specific surface area of expanded graphite. The value of the specific surface area makes up 400 m2/g. With increaseе in temperature, the amount of benzene and toluene adsorption on the surface of the expanded graphite diminishes. Consequently, the adsorption is of a physical character.
Key words: expanded graphite, benzene, toluene, specific surface, adsorbent, adsorption, adsorption kinetics, physical adsorption.
