Determining residual stresses with the weight function method in fracture mechanics
The residual stresses have been determined basing on the measured deformations when cutting a sample of the bending of three points having an edge crack with the weight function method in fracture mechanics. There has been developed a weigh function of the circular shaft with the circumferential semi-elliptical crack. With the use of the weight function and the stress intensity factors (SIF) of the circular shaft with the circumferential semi-elliptical crack under bending and tensile loads, there have been determined shaft residual stresses of a cylindrical pilot with girth weld.
Key words: fracture mechanics, residual stress, weight function.
